Lydia MERROUCHE is an Algerian woman, originally trained as a lawyer, who traded her robe for a hoe and became the founder of Fossoul Agricole.
As Lydia’s mentor through the WIA Young Leaders program, these past months have allowed me to delve into the activities of the first company to offer organic fruits and vegetables in Algiers.
This initiative has received multiple awards and earned her the title of Young Leader Women in Africa 2022.
A well-deserved recognition: Lydia creates local jobs, and her voice is beginning to resonate on the international stage to raise awareness about the benefits of this type of agriculture, both for health and for empowering markets that will adopt this practice, thus becoming less dependent on exports.
