The International Day of African Women (IDAW) at UNESCO

An event expertly organized by three African and Afro-descendant women, namely Kadia Sylla Moisson, Bintou Doumbia, and Isabelle Kancel, showcased a powerful symbol in its inaugural edition, which took place at UNESCO on July 5th.”

On the initiative of the Malian delegation to UNESCO, represented by SE M. Amadou Opa Thiam and under the auspices of SE Rachel Annick Ogoula Akiko Obiang Meyo, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Gabon to UNESCO and President of the Central Africa Sub-group, the event provides a platform for discussions on the theme of “The Role of the Female Diaspora in France in Africa’s Development”.

For the occasion, I was the master of ceremonies and had the opportunity to moderate the panel dedicated to women who are engaged in public institutions, and the changes they embody and support in their daily lives.

A poignant moment paying tribute to the memory of Aoua KEITA, the founder of IDAW (a Malian activist and politician).
